1. Odds are a multiplier
Across Africa and Europe, odds are almost always decimal (2.50, 1.80…). The rule is simple: stake × odds = total return if the prediction is right, stake included.
Example: ₦1,000 at odds of 2.50 returns ₦2,500, a profit of ₦1,500. If the prediction is wrong, the stake is lost.
2. The probability hidden in the odds
Divide 1 by the odds to get the probability the operator gives the outcome.
- Odds 2.00 → 1 ÷ 2.00 = 50%
- Odds 1.50 → 67%
- Odds 4.00 → 25%
Add up the probabilities of the three outcomes of a match and you go above 100%: the difference is the operator's margin. That is why, over time, the odds favour the operator.
3. 1X2
The basic bet on the result at the end of normal time (extra time excluded):
- 1: home win (team listed first)
- X: draw
- 2: away win
4. Double chance
You cover two of the three outcomes: 1X (home or draw), X2 (draw or away), 12 (no draw). Lower risk, so lower odds.
5. Over / under goals
“Over 2.5 goals” wins if there are 3 or more goals; “under 2.5” wins with 0, 1 or 2. The “.5” avoids a tie.
6. What Cote Claire shows
Every match page shows indicative 1-X-2 odds and statistical probabilities based on form, head-to-head and goals. Comparing both helps you understand a match; it never guarantees a result.
